Hello, Nice Maker.

Magic happens when we meet in person. Handshakes, hugs, and high-fives connect us, leading to new relationships and opportunities that shape our careers.

I’m Dave Delaney. I am the author of New Business Networking and a natural community enthusiast. I co-founded unconferences BarCamp Nashville and Podcamp Nashville to unite Nashville’s technology communities. I founded two monthly networking events, Geek Breakfast and Nashcocktail, to keep both groups together between each flagship event. In addition, I’ve organized and hosted meetups in San Diego, Seattle, Austin, New Orleans, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Toronto.

But enough about me… this isn’t about me. It’s about us, the misfits.

Everyone is welcome, but be yourself. Being yourself is crucial for authentic connections, self-acceptance, and confidence. It fosters genuine relationships, cultivates resilience, and promotes emotional well-being. Embracing your true self leads to personal growth and fulfillment and sets a positive example for others, encouraging a culture of acceptance and individuality. In essence, being true to yourself enables a more meaningful and purposeful life.

In an era when loneliness has become an epidemic leading to illness and suffering, and we often don’t truly know who (or what, bots? AI?) we correspond with online, it’s time to reconnect in person in Nashville and beyond.

The purpose of the Nice Maker is to build trust, social bonds, healthy lives, and successful careers - together. I hope you will join us.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
